The Mega IRC Guide

So now that xSellize has a IRC chat room some people don't know how to connect or find it strange because it is not something they are used to.

Having used the IRC for nearly a year and noticed not many people joining the IRC channel I though it might be time to make a small guide.

So lets begin..... Firstly its windows of course.

WINDOWS IRC CLIENTS

MIRC - There are a load of IRC clients one of the most famous and user friendly is MIRC so I would recommend this client to anyone that wanted to start using IRC.

The main thing you need to remember when joining is the SERVER and CHANNEL that you want to join (for xSellize this is SERVER = 'irc.xsellize.com' or 'irc.moofspeak.net' and the channel you want to join is '#xsellize')

MAC IRC CLIENTS

X-Chat aqua - Again there is a lot of clients for mac you just have to google a bit. The one I am using at the moment it X-Chat aqua. I found it quite easy to use an alternative is Colloq which is also a very good client. The main things that you need to remember is that the server and client you want to join is irc.xsellize.com #xsellize

There are some commands once you have joined that you may need.

/nick
Set your nick name for example if you wanted your nickname to be 'n00b' then your would simply type '/nick n00b'

/ns register
To stop others from using your nickname on the irc you can register it so if i wanted to register the n00b nickname I would type '/ns register mypass n00b@xellize.com' i would then get a message off the server saying that the nick is now registered

/ns identify
This identifies you with the nick that your have created and registered before. You have to have changed you nick to the one that you have registered like /nick n00b it will prompt you to identify so here you will type '/ns identify mypass' where mypass is the password you entered when you registed you nick name

/join <#room name here>
will let you join a channel of your choice.

/me
is an action message

/msg
this will open a private 1-1 chat what the nick name you entered, or simply double click their name.
