That.s cool, but now is not needed, bcuz iPhone can do it.

While I agree that Home Sharing is better, it's more useful... at home.
This tweak has the advantage of only requiring a Wi-Fi network, making it more appealing when you're using it at a friend's house.

That said, this app has essentially always been a novelty since (1) it was made when AirPlay and AirPrint !were the shiz", (2) a good wired speaker would provide better sound with less power usage and lag, and there are professional wireless audio solutions.

I have tried everything I can find to get this to work with no results. I've installed every different version I can find, used the command prompt in Putty to start airplay and it says that it runs properly. I have never been able to see my ipod come up in airplay list (my airport express continously shows up). I have an ipod touch 2g with 4.2.1 and itunes 10.2.2.12. I've installed bonjour and the windows version of airprint. I've gone in and set the permissions in launchdaemons and libexec (although my libexec is a link that put the file in /va/stash/libexec.d9kbqn?) I am will to pay anyone that is willing to talk or respond to me and can actually get this to work. I cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Type "/usr/libexec/airtunesd" in the Terminal, tell me what you get.

Here is what it came back with: -sh: /usr/libexec/airtunesd: Bad CPU type in executable

The application is only compatible with arm7 processor, your device has got an arm6 one.

Gotcha, and thank you very much for taking the time to get back to me. This might be a really dumb question, but are all ipod touch 2g ARM6? Or are some 2g ARM7? Is there anything I can change on this device or am I up a creek...........I'm not well versed in whether the ARM issue is hardware or software. Again, I greatly appreciate the help.

You must run it on something newer than a 3GS.

i cant seem to get this working for my iphone 3gs 4.2.1 on windows 7. i enabled the option allow remote speakers in the itunes device preferences and also have the airplay print installed. once i go into terminal on my iphone and set "airplay on" or "airplay start" terminal "displays nothing found to load", i also do not see the airplay icon in itunes :(

EDIT: nevermind, it seems i had this installed from another repo in cydia -_-
i installed the xsellize version and now itunes detects my iphone :D

I'm having some issues... My phone appears in iTunes, but when I click it, it says "Connecting" but then nothing happens... Any ideas? (iPhone 3GS 4.3.3 and iTunes 10.4)

EDIT: Figured it out... It was actually an issue with iTunes. If anybody else is having this problem go to System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> TCP/IP -> and set Configure IPv6 to OFF.

Great tweak, thanks! :)

EDIT2: Is there a way to disable this without having to uninstall the package from cydia? The WiFi connection I used was the same one as my college network, and it was kind of hilarious how many people tried to play songs through my iphone... heh.

Sure, open a shell (MobileTerminal or SSH) and run "airplay" for more info :)

I doubt it: apart from being related to Apple's power management, the base (airtunesd) is made by… Apple!
The very first version was dumped from the Apple TV 2G.

I'm sorry, but i don't know what your error message means. otherwise try airserver. it does exactly the same as the airplayspeaker. you can find it in the repo.

Just installed 1.1.1 on an iPad 1 running iOS 5.0.1, permissions edit still needed:

cd /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
chmod 644 com.apple.airtunesd.plist
chown -Rv root:wheel com.apple.airtunesd.plist
launchctl load -w com.apple.airtunesd.plist

Its working but sounds is choppy any time the CPU is busy or screen is off (which most likely puts CPU in low power mode). We need a way to increase the CPU priority of the process.
