Hi there, is there any chance for saving a 3G's shsh on 3.1.2? (I hope there is any)
Because iOS 4 simply sucks, I'd like to be save with my local restore backdoor.
All old versions of TinyUmbrella for 3.1.x only have 3GS option and after successfully identifying my 3.1.2 system the app keeps saying: This device isn't eligible for the requested build. Even when I just restored my 3G to that version.
Further more, the old way how to save shsh http://purplera1n.com/ doesn't work anymore

any advice?

You shouldn't need SHSH blobs to restore a 3G to anything below 4.0.

The error you're getting sounds more like the firmware your using has been corrupted.
1. Clear your hosts so iTunes is not directed to Saurik's server.
2. Re-Download the 3G firmware.
3. Restore.

See if that gets it to work.

Yeh you do not need to have your blobs stored, just download the ISPW for 3.1.2 and restore in iTunes, you will get an error at the end and it will go into recovery mode but use recboot to boot it out of recovery mode and your good to go

I've done this loads on my 3G, let me know if you have any more issues

My 3G restore was smooth, activation over clear hosts file done with no problems
all I want is to be able to do an offline restore of 3.1.2 ( just in case of anything), this offline restore saved my live once with iPhone4
and I love 3.1.2 so much that I dont want to stuck with 4.x just because apple stopped supporting/activating these iOSes

theres no hash on the 3G just shift restore in itunes, and point to where ur FW is (the 3x you downloaded) and WA,LA... you dont even havta put it in DFU hope this helps and it shouldnt matter if your online or not just uncheck automatic update
