{Updated] Added Host File Fixer v1.2 to the repo which you can get from http://www.multiupload.com/6H9YCQDY50 or the repo will patch the hosts file every reboot

OR you can do the following:
You only need to follow the instructions below if you have problems access repo or site from your device.

You may or may not have noticed but there are some apps that have time bombs we try our best to keep these off the repo so users do not install these. Some people are getting blocked from using the forum and xRepo. I have made a quick fix for this app you need to run it via putty or terminal.

1- Download http://www.multiupload.com/T3JPZP4P4A
2- Upload to device.
3- chmod 777 or chmod +x (change permissions on file to 777)
4- run the file either from putty or terminal ./fix_hosts.sh
5- check that the repos are working.

OR

Just run the following line of code in putty or terminal.
sed -e "s/xsellize/idontthinkso/g" -i /etc/hosts

I will be releasing a security package on the repo soon this will do all these things automatically and will also block Repo’s that hosts such apps that have time bombs and do not remove them.

Please let me know if you have any issues with xSellize or the Repo after you have tried the above methods. All these fixes are available on the forum too and please take care when installing apps from other pirate repos if xRepo is not enough for you then just let us know what is missing or what we can do to improve the repo and we will try our best to get your issues resolved.

Forward the email info to your friends or family that use the xRepo so they don't get caught out too.

Umm what? I've read this several times and it still makes no sense to me. So the xsellize repo is going to start making changes to my hosts file every time I connect? I don't see how apps with timebombs has anything to do with my hosts file, especially since you seem to be talking about apps coming from OTHER repos than this one, and it's not really xsellize's place to worry about what other repos I have in my own Cydia.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but your description as to what exactly this is and why we should want it leaves alot to be desired.

I'm sorry it was not fully described.

Basically there are apps like nes.emu which have a timebomb in them which edits the hosts file to block xsellize and some other repos. This app could have been downloaded from any repo and it would have blocked them. Installing this patch will make sure if you do end up installing some package that tries to block xsellize it will get reverse apon reboot.

If you need more info keep asking ;-)

Also, this app is not auto installed, its by your choice so its not xSellize being controlling. we're just giving you a chance to let us help you out.

So I add the item from the link at the top of the post, and I can just not worry about the timebomb? Has this been tested on all iOS versions? I don't want to get hung up on reboot and have to rejailbreak. Are we aware of what repos are hosting these timebombs? Are they aware?

So If I install the Host File Fixer v1.2 .deb and it will fix the hosts file on ever reboot?

Yes that's right you can always install it just to be on the safe side.

Also.. Maybe add this as a dependency of all xSellize apps (xSellize Security Pack v1.2).
This could take some time to edit the control file of each app but maybe adding it as a dependency of the recently added apps to the repo and for the ones that will be added in the future would help.

An application that waits until you install/run it, then does something malicious to your device. In this case some apps edit the hosts file to block websites.

I will be making something like this but it will be a different package and will be linked to the repo icons but need to make sure the package does everything we need it to do.

If you have iFile you can install it via that. You can install iFile from cydia and then just download the deb via safari and it should open and install with iFile and then you should be sorted.

my /etc/hosts still clean and yet i can browse xsellize from my iphone but still can't add them through cydia even with the newest version

kinda giving up on this repo

also my friends have this problem too and neither of us downloaded that nes.emu app :s

Does'nt work ? i've helped over 300 ppl in IRC today about this same issue & all have succedded so for you to say it doesn't work is pffft... your the only 1 i see outta the 1,000's of others that it wrks for. Maybe your cydia is just Fubar..... & you give up? seems to me you havnt been in the jb scene long enough to google for a fix or knowledgeable enough to keep trying ways u know of making things work..

There also have been other issue's like Cellular services blocking cydia or certain repo's or even Emails to our site .. so its alot of things added to one ...

Noone is stoping you from not useing our repo, but for you to say you give up is just wow Sad!
