Hi! As we all know, the dev team has already released pwnage and quickpwn 2.2.5 for the mac users. They will also release quickpwn for windows users. The problem is (for windows users) it's impossible for us to jailbreak our phones without updating the baseband as well unless we can get a hold of a custom 2.2.1 firmware from the kind sharing people who use mac. So in short, I'm requesting for somebody to please share their blessings after they're done using the custom firmware created with pwnage 2.2.5.

Thanks!

It's very hard to get OSX to work in a windows VM, just ask spike and me, we tried for hours with several different versions.

This custom FW will have the same features as the 1st Gen iPhone FW I posted earlier (except for boot neuter).

Just wanna make sure that the baseband does not change... Yellowsn0w only works on the 02.28.00 baseband for the iphone 3g. if yellowsn0w can't be included in the custom 2.2.1 firmware we can all just manually install it again through cydia. :hooray: Thanks!!!

I'm not seeing yellowsn0w in the cydia package list. I'll leave it out for now.

The bootneuter settings are greyed out therefore I'm assuming that the baseband won't be touched.

yellosn0w is a small daemon that is launched on boot to enable the soft unlock... I'm sure you already know this

I used the PWNAGE Tool to create the custom firmware. The option to f*ck with the baseband was greyed out so I assume it's not touched since I couldn't even edit options to fool with it.

Here's some reassurance for you.

Locked iPhone 3G - Preserve Baseband

This applies if you have a locked iPhone 3G and you wish to update to 2.2.1 but preserve the iPhone’s current baseband software. Preserving the baseband will ensure that you can still use “yellowsn0w” the iPhone 3G unlock application. To upgrade your phone to 2.2.1 and preserve the state of the baseband you need to create a custom .ipsw with PwnageTool. This custom .ipsw will not contain the baseband update but of course will still give you any new stuff from 2.2.1

There are plenty of tutorials about this process on the web, but PwnageTool contains intuitive graphics and easy to follow prompts that should have you up and running in no time at all. Please note: PwnageTool is only available for Mac OS X.
