So, Installous is a Cydia app that lets you download App Store apps for free. Mission accomplished! But wait, maybe YOU want to upload your own apps to Installous. Contribute to the community or whatever. Well, this guide shows you just how to do that.

How to crack your iPhone apps with Crackulous

To upload an app to Installous, you will need to remove Apple’s anti-piracy protection, which comes with all apps sold in the App Store. This is ‘cracking’. Crackulous is an app made by the admins of Hackulous that offers an easy way to crack iPhone/iPad apps that you have bought. You cannot crack apps that you downloaded from Installous, since they have already been cracked beforehand.

Prerequisites for using Crackulous

• A jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad: Your iPhone must be jailbroken to be able to crack apps. Obviously, you can’t do this on a non-jailbroken iPhone, since Apple does not want you cracking their apps.
  
  
• iOS4: Your iPhone must be running iOS version 4.0 for the cracking app that we’re using (Crackulous) to work. Basically, if you can create folders on your iPhone, that means you’re using iOS 4. If you want to be absolutely sure about what version you’re running, open the Settings app on your iPhone, and go to ‘General->About’. Your version number will be listed there.
  
  If your iPhone is running a version below 4.0., you can use the app “AppCrackr” instead of Crackulous. AppCrackr does the exact same thing, except it’s designed for older versions of iOS. Check the FAQ for more detailed info on AppCrackr.

Step 1: Download and install Crackulous from Cydia
Open up Cydia, which is the app store that’s installed when you jailbreak your iPhone. Go to Manage->Sources->Edit->Add. Then type in http://cydia.hackulo.us . After that, search “Crackulous”, and download and install it.



Step 2: Crack some stuff
Cracking apps with Crackulous is way too easy. When you open up Crackulous, you are shown a list of all of the apps that you have downloaded from the App Store. Just tap on any of them, and Crackulous will instantly crack them. Woooo.



And… that’s pretty much it. You now have a cracked version of the app saved as a .ipa file (IPA stands for “iPhone Application”). Next, you need to move that .ipa file off your device, and onto Installous. The next part of the guide shows you how; there are two different methods for doing this.

How to upload your iPhone apps from Crackulous

The Easy Way: Upload your apps with FileApe and FileDude

Installous is really just an index of links to file hosting websites, which host cracked apps. FileApe and FileDude are the two most popular file hosting websites for cracked apps, due to their extremely loose stance on piracy. They also make it really easy to upload apps onto their service, by using the Crackulous auto-upload feature. If you have a FileApe, FileDude, and Apptrackr account, you can automatically upload all of your cracked apps onto Installous, straight from Crackulous itself.

Step 1: Sign up for FileApe and FileDude
To upload apps onto FileApe and FileDude, you first need to sign up to their websites. The signup is nice and simple: all you need is an email account. And having an email account is actually optional for FileApe.

Step 2: Sign up for AppTrackr
AppTrackr is the name of the index that Installous browses for download links to cracked apps. If you want to get your .ipa file to show up on Installous, you need to go through AppTrackr first. Luckily, the signup process for AppTrackr isn’t that bad, either.

Step 3: Enter your account information into Crackulous
Crackulous will upload your apps onto FileApe and FileDude, and then post the download links for your apps on AppTrackr. All it needs is your account information.

Open up Crackulous, and tap “settings”. You will see three fields, labeled “FileApe”, “FileDude”, and “Apptrackr”. Enter your info.



Step 4: Upload your stuff
In Crackulous, tap “Cracking”. You will see a list of all of the cracked app files on your iPhone. Tap a file to upload it to FileApe or FileDude, and subsequently to AppTrackr.



Mission accomplished.

The Hard Way: Upload your apps with Mediafire

Uploading apps automatically with Crackulous is nice and easy. So why would you want to upload your apps the hard way? Because Mediafire is teh shiz.

Mediafire is a large file-hosting website that offers direct download links and way faster download speeds than either FileDude and FileApe. If you use Installous a lot, you are no doubt aware that downloading files from FileDude or FileApe can be absolute torture, with their indecipherable CAPTCHAs, annoying wait times, craploads of ads, and download speeds slower than a tortoise humping a snail. Mediafire is your savior. The tradeoff? Since uploading to Mediafire isn’t built into Crackulous, you have to upload everything the hard way.

Step 1: Sign up for AppTrackr
AppTrackr is the name of the index that Installous browses for download links to cracked apps. If you want to get your .ipa file to show up on Installous, you need to go through AppTrackr first. Luckily, the signup process for AppTrackr is pretty simple.

Step 2: Create a Mediafire account
Make an account on Mediafire. Because Mediafire is cool.

Step 3: Use iFunbox to move your cracked apps off your device
iFunbox is an application that lets you browse the main file system of your iPhone. You need to use a program like iFunbox to get your .ipa files off your iPhone, and onto your desktop computer. If you have a Mac, you can use a program like iPhone Explorer.

When you first download iFunbox, you get a ZIP file. The iFunbox program is stored inside the ZIP; just double click the ZIP file and move iFunbox out. You don’t need to install anything. (Why they decided to use a ZIP file, I have no idea). To use iFunbox, you must connect your iPhone to your computer with the USB cable that you normally use for syncing with iTunes.

Open iFunbox. You will see your iPhone listed on the left panel of iFunbox. Click on your iPhone’s listing, and open the raw file system.

Navigate your way to ‘var/root/Documents/Cracked’. This is where Crackulous stores all of your cracked app files. If you are using AppCrackr instead of Crackulous, check the FAQ at the end of this guide instead.



Copy the files in ‘var/root/Documents/Cracked’ from iFunbox onto your computer. I like to drag-and-drop files to move them, though iFunbox has a built in “Copy to PC” feature if you want to use it.



Step 4: Upload your files onto Mediafire
This step should be rather self-explanatory, since uploading files onto Mediafire is a pretty painless process. Just go to http://mediafire.com , log onto your account, and click the “Upload files” button on the left panel of the Mediafire main page.



Uploading some files could take a while, depending on your internet connection.



Step 5: Post your Mediafire links on Apptrackr
Go to http://apptrackr.org , log onto your account, and click “Submit app”. You will see a page asking you for the “iTunes Store URL” of an app. For example, this is an iTunes url: http://itunes.apple....d343200656?mt=8 It’s how AppTrackr identifies which app you’re submitting.

To find an iTunes URL, open up iTunes, go to the App Store, and search for the app that you’re submitting to AppTrackr. Once you find the app, right-click on its icon, and click “Copy link”. This will copy the iTunes URL of the app.



Once you’ve got that information, paste it into the AppTrackr submission page, and then just fill in the blanks.



Now you’re done, and Installous gets one more awesome Mediafire link. Wooooooooo!

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I searched AppCrackr on Cydia, but no results came up. What gives?
A: You need to use another Cydia app source to download AppCrackr, since this website’s Cydia source no longer hosts the app. I recommend using the source. To add a source to Cydia, open Cydia and go to Manage->Sources->Edit->Add.

Q: I can’t find the .ipa files from AppCrackr in iFunbox. Where are they?
A: AppCrackr saves app files to ‘var/mobile/Documents/Cracked’, while Crackulous saves them in ‘var/root/Documents/Cracked’.

Q: I searched Crackulous on Cydia, but no results came up. Wth?
A: You might not have the Hackulous source installed for some reason. If so, add the source http://cydia.hackulo.us by opening Cydia and going to Manage->Sources->Edit->Add.

Q: Automatically uploading my apps with Crackulous didn’t work. What do I do?
A: Try uploading them again. Sometimes the auto-upload feature doesn’t so great. If the problem happens twice, you could either try again the next day (there might be something wrong with one of the websites), or upload the apps the hard way with Mediafire.

Q: Why not use SSH instead of iFunbox to move app files off my iPhone?
A: SSH is overly complex for beginners, and honestly, it’s overrated. Sure, it’s wireless, but programs like iFunbox do the exact same thing, without the hassle of setting up a connection for the first time.

Q: Can I use other file-hosting websites besides FileApe, FileDude, or Mediafire?
A: The admins of AppTrackr are very strict about what kind of download links you can upload to their site. Many file hosting websites actually pay you money for downloads, but AppTrackr doesn’t want anybody making thousands of dollars by uploading apps, so only websites that don’t pay uploaders are allowed. Additionally, the any download website that AppTrackr uses has to be popular enough to handle the crapload of traffic that AppTrackr gets. Considering these factors, FileApe, FileDude, and Mediafire are the best options. AppTrackr also allows you to upload your cracked apps onto 2shared or zshare, but there’s really no advantages to using them.

Sorry for bumping the thread but whenever I want to submit an ipa from my computer I get an error,
Submission failed! Your links were probably invalid or already used.

I find it strange because all my links are valid and they haven't been used before! What gives? Has this ever happened to someone before? I haven't succeeded in uploading any apps!

Right now only moderators can submit, but they will post a notice when the problem has been fixed.
The captcha things has been a royal pain in the rear.
Give it a day or so and you'll be able to start submitting again.

Try using PoedCrackMod instead.

Or Clutch. clutch might do it.
