PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST, INCLUDING MY NOTES HERE, BEFORE POSTING ANY QUESTIONS! (Especially "Why is this one so small, the previous version was almost 2GB?")

MY NOTES:

  • NAVIGON is now a Garmin company.
  • Unfortunately, iAP Cracker does NOT work on Panorama View 3D, or on any of the other purchases - they're all server-side. We'll have to wait for someone to crack it as it was done before. (To my knowledge, Live Traffic has never been cracked, and probably will not be.)

  • The program .ipa is so small (34.9mb) because, on the first launch, it has to download both the required core files (203.6mb; ostensibly core files removed to make the .ipa smaller; the previous version, 1.8.2, was ~1.68GB in size) for the app, plus whatever maps the user wants to download (various sizes.)
  • As for NAVIGON "requiring" purchases of map updates, the company has put out an update; any map updates requiring a purchase will be good for 2 YEARS, thus if you purchase a map update once, and they come out with a new update 3 months later, it will be FREE (since it's within the 2-year time frame.) IMO this is very reasonable. NAVIGON / Garmin has stated they expect to have map updates available every 3-4 months, thus 3 to 4 times a year NAVIGON will have new maps. The first set of new maps is available free with the app; any map updates after that means you pay for a map update once, then you don't have to pay again for two years. Also, any new version of the app will have the latest maps included at no charge. There's a high probability that the app will be updated way before your 2 years for map updates run out.

What's new in Version 2.0.1

Version 2.0.1 includes the following optimizations and new features (for details on map updates, please see below):

✓ Resolved initial server connection issues for downloading maps
✓ Favorites and recent destinations will now appear automatically after application is updated
✓ Reintroduced the integrated iPod control in response to customer feedback
✓ Added “select all” option in map manager to download all maps at one time
✓ Improved VoiceOver support (for visually impaired)
✓ Further UI refinements

Version 2.0 included a new map update feature called FreshMaps. FreshMaps is a premium service that NAVIGON adapted from their successful line of PNDs (personal navigation devices) in Europe, whereby for a fee, users can get the latest maps every three months for a period of at least two years. The introduction of this service into the app was planned prior to Garmin’s acquisition of NAVIGON.

Prior to the launch of FreshMaps, free map updates were provided on an irregular basis. In response to customer feedback, we will continue to deliver occasional free map updates in addition to the optional FreshMaps service, which provides more regular and frequent (quarterly) map updates. Note that FreshMaps also upgrades regional versions, such as MyRegion or USA, to the full North American map.

Thanks for the update and info about Mr Gone links.

Does it really matter that the iTunesMetadata is missing from Mr G's links ?
If the "Extras" info doesn't show, we can't crack live traffic for example, so does it matter ?

Can you buy live traffic updates for a cracked App and that why it's important ?

Without the iTunesMetadata.plist file, when you import the app into iTunes, it shows up as "Unknown Genre" instead of properly being in the Navigation genre.

Without the iTunesMetadata.plist file, the Extras don't show up in the app. If they don't show up, you can't buy them.

Live Traffic can't be cracked anyway, since it's a server-side purchase (all of the extras are, actually.)

Finally, it's just better to have a COMPLETE app, rather than a half-assed one missing something important.

Hey Mr. Hotstuff2. thanks for the great upload! I was wondering if i still can buy the extras? is it a way?
please lets me know. because you mention if it show up, you can't buy them. i did try to buy now, but in-appp purchases are not allowed. cannot connect to iTunes Store. I understand this is a crack version. but just wondering if its possible in someway, because i really want the Panorama view 3d on the new 2.0.1 thanks

After I installed the 5.0.1 untethered upgrade, my Navigon ceased to work. It would launch and just hang and when it went past this, it wouldn't refresh.

Hi! I just installed NAVIGON 2.01 posted by Hotstuff2 which apparently is the latest one but everytime I open appstore I get an update badge for NAVIGON. I checked on itunes and it clearly says 2.01 but for some reason appstore says its not. Anyone know what may be causing this ?
Thanks

Yeah I noticed an update for Navigon in the App Store too, but the weird thing is I've had this version of 2.0.1 installed since the day it was released by hotstuff2 and the update only recently showed up. I didn't even realize it was an update to the same version I had installed until I read your comment. If you want to get rid of the update just rename or delete the iTunesMetadata.plist from the root of the Navigon directory and that will clear it, that's what I did for now.

I haven't had an update show up. DO NOT DELETE THE iTUNESMETADATA.PLIST! Doing so will cause the app to show up as "Unknown Genre" in iTunes, and the extras don't even show up.

If you *do* get the update showing on the App Store, just install Update Hider for iOS 5 (free in Cydia.)

If you iAP Cracker installed, you must turn it off/disable it in order to purchase the add-ons. AFAIK, you should still be able to purchase the add-ons even with the cracked version.

I really couldn't care less about what genre it shows up in iTunes, nor do I care if extras that I'm never going to buy show up or not. The fact is renaming or deleting the plist is a quick fix to to the update showing up in the App Store, which is clearly happening to more than one person with this release (for some unknown reason). I didn't know about Update Hider though, so I'll check that out too. Thanks.

EDIT - As a test I just did the following:

1) Uninstall Navigon 2.0.1
2) Full reboot of iPhone
3) Go into App Store, confirm that no updates are available. No update badge on App Store icon.
4) Download fresh copy of NAVIGON-v2.0.1-HotStuff2.ipa from Mediafire link above
5) Install NAVIGON-v2.0.1-HotStuff2.ipa and allow it to download the 200mb of core files, go into app and then close out.
6) Go into App Store and an "update" for Navigon to 2.0.1 instantly returns. Badge is back on App Store icon.

I also removed "Navigate From Maps" 1.6 from xsellize before rebooting to make sure it wasn't contributing, it's not even installed now and I'm still getting the update so it can't be that.

Hello,

I downloaded Navigon 2.0.1 (hotstuff edition) today, but can't seem to be able to download any maps. Navigon just sits there, even after I press 'Accept changes'. Is it because yesterday, Navigon launched an updated version, 2.0.2, and have barred all requests of maps download coming from 2.0.1? Please help. Thank you!
