since i first got my iphone4 back in June, i still have never seen an iAd. i installed the iAd Gallery app and that has never worked. i always got the loading gear but the little iAd banner never appeared. now on iOS5 all i see is 'iAd Unavailable.
i for one would like to see the iAds in that app because some seem kinda neat, i mostly like the ones for movies.
i checked my hosts file and even deleted a big chunk of entries and only kept a few. but still iAds dont show up in the iAd Gallery. went as far as to use the original hosts file and that still didnt seem to change anything.
i have AdBlocker installed but whenever i Google around to see if thats the cause everywhere i go it states that AdBlocker doesnt work on iAds.
i tried a free game like Tiki Kart which has the old ad banners during gameplay and those show up. (kinda wish i could get rid of just those in every app) so its something thats not blocking everything , just the iAds.
on iOS 4 i remember i moved the AdSheet app folder to a new folder named Applications-Disabled. but in iOS5 that doesnt seem to have transferred over in the restore from iTunes.
when i had installed ios 5 from scratch and did the jailbreak the iAds did show. but once i started installing Winterboard and apps from Cydia, thats when the iAd Gallery would no longer show the iAds. other than AdBlocker i dont see anything i have installed that would block off ads.
is there something im missing that is specifically blocking iAds??

It definitely seems strange. I get them even after the jailbreak and the tweaks I use. Maybe strangely it is the ISP or if you are using a wireless router, the firewall is blocking them. Other then that maybe a tweak is doing something to FUBar the iAds but it is hard to say. Did you remove the "iAds" app using a tweak or iFile or something? If so that would explain it too.

my carrier is AT&T but the iAds Gallery app seemed to display the iAds normally over 3G. but after the jailbreak and restore and all the installing of apps and such, suddenly the iAds wouldnt appear. and im not sure if its just not connecting to wherever the iAds are being sent from. or if its something on my iphone. cause i jailbreaked a friends iphone4 but its a Verizon iphone. and they never installed anything other than Winterboard. i tried the gallery app on theirs and it worked. so again not sure what happened along the way.
well i mostly use my iphone4 over 3G but when i dont have any kind of restrictions on my router. i do all the customizations on each device (laptop, desktop, etc).
on iOS4 i moved the Adsheet.app folder from Applications to Applications-Disabled. thats all i did. which was something i read on a few sites. and that sort of helped in removing the old fashioned ad banners in a couple of apps. so i kept it like that. wasnt till months later that i tried that iAd Gallery app, because since i first got the iphone4 i had never seen an iAd in any app store application or anywhere on the web when using Safari. i read that AdSheet was part of what makes iAds show up. so i wound up moving it back on iOS4 to test things and no change. while now on iOS5 i didnt bother to move things around because i wanted to see the iAds. but they still dont show up.
i do my navigation through the directories using SSH. i use my MacBook and YummyFTP as the client.
but like i said i hadnt done any changes when on iOS5. only thing that i added was the listings in the hosts file. but ive since gotten rid of that huge file since it seemed to be hogging some RAM. i went back to the default. did a few reboots. and still the iAds dont show up. so im kinda stumped as to what it is. since everything else from Cydia thats installed is basically visual tweaks.
ironically everywhere i search to find a fix, i end up getting results with people that are asking how to get rid of iAds. while im having the opposite problem
