Apple's fast access Camera shortcut is rumored to become even faster in the iOS 5.1 update, according to Blog Do iPhone.

Currently, to quickly access the Camera on your iPhone, you must double tap the home button on lock screen and press the camera button that appears. This requires you to make three actions to access your camera quickly. However, as rumored by Blog Do iPhone, iOS 5.1 will change the access to a gesture, a slide up to reveal an embedded camera. This results in fast loading and quick access in comparison to the old method, which would require after making the multiple actions in waiting for a separate app to load.

Blog Do iPhone is only showing photos of this possible new interface, making it difficult to tell how well it is implemented in iOS 5.1, if it is indeed implemented.

iOS 5.1 is currently available as a developer's beta, rumored to be released the same time as the iPad 3.

It is if you have it stored in a folder, and have multiple camera apps installed. Much faster to get to it from the lock screen for a quick photo.

I'd like to see a tweak where we can select what camera app (or really, any app, if we so desire) gets launched when the Fast Camera Access button is pressed.

Yea, there is a tweak for that already, but hey, can't blame Apple for trying. After all, so many of the features they add to their iOS come from jailbreak tweaks.

i think it's nice of apple doing that, i dont think many people would be willing to give up their jb for features like that (we already have them) but again apple must do something impresive to get me to update, unless their comes a untethered jb, which is gonna be pretty hard nowadays.
