Something to be considered
installing winterboard, even with only mmp, it increased my springboard memoery usage 11-16 mb to whooping 24-26 mb!! WTF
installing any other mobilesubstrate plugins, such as reflective dock, mquickdo, or sbsettings seems to have very, very minimal impact on the performance and memory usage

one thing strange, however, is that even though the springboard memory usage increased, amount of free memory stayed almost the same (difference of 1-2 mb) on the sbsetting memory watcher
also, amount of free memory measured by memtool and sbsettings
seems to have a discrepancy: by like 6 or more mb
anyone noticed this?

Deleted all of these with no problem at all. Be aware of deleting some of this, because i don't use any push service, so i don't need the daemons related to.

Removed:

com.apple.accessoryd
com.apple.apsd
com.apple.aslmanager
com.apple.AddressBook
com.apple.chud.chum (the especified ProgramArguments don't exists) -> CONFIRMED. Can be deleted with no problems.
com.apple.chud.pilotfish (the especified ProgramArguments don't exists) -> CONFIRMED. Can be deleted with no problems.
com.apple.CrashHouseKeeping
com.apple.datamigrator
com.apple.DumpPanic
com.apple.DumpBasebandCrash
com.apple.mDNSResponderHelper
com.apple.mobile.obliteration
com.apple.MobileInternetSharing (toggles Internet Tethering) -> CONFIRMED. Internet Tehtering option is not showing now under "Settings>General>Network".
com.apple.ReportCrash.DirectoryService
com.apple.ReportCrash.Jetsam
com.apple.ReportCrash
com.apple.ReportCrash.SafetyNet
com.apple.ReportCrash.SimulateCrash
com.apple.powerlog
com.apple.racoon
com.apple.stackshot.server
com.apple.syslogd
com.apple.tcpdump.server
com.saurik.Cydia.Startup (i think this is only to AutoInstall .deb files) -> CONFIRMED. Can be deleted if you don't use the AutoInstall folder.

Candidates for removing:

com.apple.mobile.profile_janitor (don't know what it is)

Are you brave enough to confirm the last candidates?

Thnks.

This is great, it actually works. But I got one question, should i delete com.rockyourphone.daily.plist? I barely use rock your phone's app at all D:

Edit: After the experiment, in rebooted my iphone and it sayed 20mb free. I guess i use too much ram >_> I need a 3GS

i dont use rock your phone app but if its like cydia a installer for software or a tool like sbsettings that need to execute system commands specifically respring, etc then it will require it for running properly.

removing com.apple.usbptpd.plist will result in not being able to connect to your computer

Hii just a quick answer springboard memory is more because the mobilesubsbtrate plugins run from within the springboard thats what mobilesubstrate was designed to do. for eg., think of it this way winterboard adds skins to your springboard similar to your pc themes noticed explorer.exe size to be less when themes are disabled its the same. so springboard memory usage is always inclusive of all the plugins u have enabled thru mobilesubstrate.

BTW i dont use springboard still i memory usage is always around 25 - 30 mb.

If you only need mmpflip, you can look at my tutorial of how to do that without Winderboard here:http://www.xsellize....ead.php?t=49766

I removed a couple of daemons (15 i think) and noticed no memory increase at all, but a significantly faster boot up.
I think this would help in overall battery life, but I'll have to run it for a couple of days.

In any case, for stackshot daemon info:
http://developer.app...tackshot.8.html

I have about 36mb free, and my Springboard is always around 35mb big, MobilePhone is like 15mb big...

anyone got any ideas on how to improve this? My phone is somewhat unresponsive at times and it's gettng quite annoying.

-I have a 16gb 3G (used redsn0w to jb, thinking of restoring to a new ipa with pwnage tool)
-Winterboard: SMS tone, wallpaper, skin, supreme settings and winterboard settings
-Mobile substrate: reflective dock, no labels, 5 icon dock.
qTweeter, iRealQuickSMS, Notifier and Backgrounder (no apps running in bg atm)

Just at a loss here, and thinking I might have to cut back on my tweaks.

If you SSH into VAR/Mobile/Applications. Many of the apps in the folders also have the language files as well.

Example would be:
var/mobile/applications/0C60B281-520A-4A54-A416 Bla-Bla-Bla/Monkey Ball.app/French.lproj.

take out the winterboard and you'll notice you're springboard memory usage drop down drastically
i just theme manually through SSH, such as dock and sliders

aww that sucks. luckily an iphone is nearly impossible to brick so you have restore.

but, this is why im waiting for the OP to update the first post so as to be certain that what im doing wont eff my over.

---------- Post added at 03:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:51 AM ----------

One of the ones hecthorpe says to remove causes a iTunes cannot connect to store or whatever error repeatedly. Idk which one but it's just annoying. Had to go back to OP's way.

yaa that was the basic idea behind starting these experiments easiest way for anyone who are gonna try this is to write a program to swap between 2 directories.

launchdemons.original -> launchdemons -> reboot to set

launchdemons.bare -> launchdemons -> reboot to set

I removed the chum and chud files and my iPhone works just fine.

As I mentioned earlier, battery life...
I noticed a much better life yesterday after removing these daemons, after a whole day without charging my phone I got home and had around 60% battery left. Usage reported about 4hrs used and 10hrs in standby...could be a fluke but I usually run in the low 20's after a day, and have to find wall plugs (at school, work, etc) to make it last a whole day.
