Seriously, imho this is one of the best applications for the iPhone and I am using it everyday! The WHOLE database of wikipedia for the offline use! I uploaded the already converted (by me :wink:) version to Rapidshare so you just need to upload it with ifunbox or any other SSH tool to your iPhone/ipod Touch. Here's a quick tut:

Requirements:
-Fw 2.x, 3.x, 4.x
-6.1 GB of Free Space

1) Install "Wiki2Touch Server" in Cydia
2) Download the files below -> decompress with winrar
3) SSH "articles_en.bin" to "private/var/mobile/Media/Wikipedia/en"
4) Set the permissions to of "articles_en.bin" to 0755
4) Open Safari and go to http://127.0.0.1:8080/index.html
5) Now you should see this:


If not check if you have Wiki2Touch turned on in BossPrefs.

6) Add a bookmark to the springboard
7) Reboot your iPhone!
8) Enjoy Wikipedia Offline!

I do not think so because all mathematical formula from my dump in wikipedia iPhone are not displayed correcly even after the last update.

I very would like to be able to view correctly mathematical formulate....

Maybe in the next update!

I think the update from yesterday was just to cancell the dependancy with bosspreff.
We have now the choice to install a toggle for bosspref or for sbsetting. We are no more obliged to install bosspref with wiki2touch.
I think it is the only change!
It is really difficult to find information about the development of this beautifull app.....

- "Could not find iTunes support DLLs. You must have iTunes installed.

Have iTunes 9.x and tried with the regular dlls for other programs. Have you upgraded? Will I need to go back to 8.2?

I know I have made a correct articles_en.bin file, because it worked on my firmware 2.0, but so far, when I install the articles.bin in the Wikipedia/en/ folder, the xx language changes to en language, but I cannot search anything. The only results that appear is when I search "R", it comes out with gibberish.

I have installed:

Wiki2Touch Server
Wiki2Touch BossRef

But I think my problem is that I havent installed "wikisrvd", which I used when I was on 2.2.1, but ispazio has been down, can anyone help me, and upload the wikisrvd.deb file so I can be done with this? :D

hmm duno what your problem is lol, i have it working perfectly on 3.0 with wiki2touch server, it's the same thing as wikisvrd. even the deb file lol. i used transfer tool 0.6 tho, maybe that's your problem?

Yea the indexers are pretty messed up. I had to index about 3 times to get a working one. Once you have the images.txt, you can download the images using imagegetter.exe. I didn't do that cuz i have no more room left. Too many apps lmao.

Doing this in another computer with 8.2. Works fine with 8.2 (at least the tool starts, can't yet get it to work on my IPT 3.1.2...) Does not work with 9.x iTunes for me, stay away from it if you want this.

Hmm... wonder if I should try with 6.0 instead of 6.5 for search to work...

I have installed wikisrvd, wikipedia server and transfered the english, german and french Wikis to the iphone. The german and french version works, the english does not. Tried version 0.65, 0.60, both mac and win versions. When searching the english version, i don't get any results. Who can help me ?????
