yea in settings 5.5 and 5.2 (trying both) and still same symptoms sync'd both times, I'm in columbus, Ohio

not really the same. 5.5 it won't even make the bar across and say error. 5.2 sometimes it goes all the way across but my friend never receives it.

I have a 3GS with 3.0 Firmware Jailbroken and it will not let me update the carrier file. I am also using iTunes 9.0. Here's the error i am getting.

what carrier are you on now before trying to update? cuz I'm on 5.1 and want to know how to update or should I?

5.2 is working fine for me... if this is the case for you it is probably better to leave it on 5.2 than to upgrade to 5.5 because people are reporting in this thread that it removes your edit cellular data settings option.

I have an iPhone 3g on 3.0 jailbroke and I get the same error tried different carrier files as well

If you have the AT&T carrier logo installed through Cydia, uninstall it and it will work.

i rebooted a couple of times, but to no avail... anyone have the same problem?

i should have stated that i really want to keep the "cellular data network" tab, as well as tethering hack. does 5.2 keep those?

also, i'm in the california bay area... i wonder if the mms settings are different for here? or maybe mms is still non-functional?

use the 5.2 OP posted im on 3.0.1 JB and works like a treat

I had the same exact problem. Remove any customer carrier icons you have going and it'll work!

Yeah mine says "phone" also and I turned my wifi off and tried sending mms, loading data, send/receive email, etc. all on 3G and it works so I left it alone...it works !

Btw I updated the very 1st post AGAIN to carrier update AT&T 6.0, basically this is like 5.5 but it also enables the Carrier Data Network string in settings>general>network incase you guys wanted to edit the settings...GoodLuck
