follow this guy and you should have mms and tethering working with the new carrier 6.0 working

download carrier file 6.0 and update using itunes this should give you mms and cellular data network option http://tinyurl.com/yao4w5k

then go on your iphone to this website http://help.benm.at/help.php and download the tethering configfile only since you already got mms to work and reboot. thats it now you have everything under five minutes

I tested it for mms and it works fine, as did the 5.2 and 5.5 for me (for the last week or so anyway).

Have not tested the tethering yet.

In case people have the unknown error when trying to update carrier file, uninstall ATT carrier logo in cydia and then you can update.

I have tethering available and working on 5.5. Still no access to Cellular data network setting. MMS still works though. Plus I really dont need to change anything in the cellar data network settings anyway coz everything works.

Yeah overall that's pretty much all it changes. It just gives you access to the cellular data network options to change settings. Which isn't that neccessary anymore since mms and stuff now works.

After updating my iPhone 3G with the pwnage tool 3.1 update, my iPhone's cellular service does not work at all. There is no signal bars and no carrier logo. I have AT&T service. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Btw, after going back to 3.0.1, my service works...so it is a problem with the pwnage tool. Hopefully the dev team fixes this

I got everything working and Im on 5.5 carrier file..3gs 3.0.1...If why fix it if its not broken...

Would this work on an O2 iPhone 3GS? My iPhone has MMS actuvated and cellular network enabled but tethering is there but when you click enable it says please buy a bolt on onto your monthly contract dont want too pay that... I am guessing this wont work on my iPhone because mine is currently on O2 4.4 Carrier.ippc but I was wondering if anyone could crack it so I can use tethering for free on O2.

Since i started to use this file my single got bad and my phone started to get hot for no reason at all, battery is also bad when just texting not mms but just texting phone got hot as well so i went back to 5.5 and everything is back to normal weird..

If you have MMS and thethering working, there is no need to update to 6.0. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Sorry I dont know the answer to his but a friend has a 3GS non-jailbroken with 3.0 on it. Can I install the carrier settings file for him? He does not want to update to 3.1.

Can anyone confirm if at&t is going to charge an extra $30 for the tethering? I read somewhere that tethering on the iphone sends special packets on the network so the network knows it is tethering... I think pdanet bypass that. I use tethering for my laptop but so don't want to pay an extra $30 for it....

I downloaded the 6.0 carrier file. How do I install it? I hit shift + update, but it won't show the file.

I've been tethering since pdanet came out and continue to tether with MyWi and the 3.0 hack. Never had an extra charge nor even a phone call. I think there plan is to water it down and out of the firmware. Thus 3.1 and iTunes 9.
