3.1.2 Update per itunes on OSX 10.6.1
JB with blackra1n on win7
downloaded cydia
restarted cydia
updated cydia and tools

then i tried to download sbsettings:
DL ok
install seems to be ok
BUT just before trying to restart springboard: loading, loading, still loading (about 45 min by now)

i tried the same with cyntact before and finally had to restore from backup to get my phone working again

is there an issue with the current apps and the new firmware or with cydia or blackra1n?

any ideas?

last string during install was:

launchctl: Couldn't stat("/System/Library/LaunchDeamons/com.bigboss.sbsettings.plist"): No such file or directory

So far:

It seems only apps that need to completely restart springboard f*** up when installing, as long as you just have to return to cydia all is fine

Use CyberDuck!! (Mac)
Install SSH in Cydia.
Works for Me iPhone 3GS 3.12 JailBroken with Blackra1n.

With blackrain Disk Aid or ifunbox will not work ( unless there is an update available). For now use iphone tunnel + winscp ( ofcourse you need open ssh that needs to be installed on your idevice).

It works perfectly on 3.1.2 jailbroked with blackra1n.

the problem is that with blackra1n the apps that use mobilesubstrate dont install correctly i advise installing cydia the nrebooting then install updates in cydia and reboot and then finally just install mobilesubstrate and reboot and then install whatever you need, should work

The title of this thread is misleading, i thought there is a problem with blackra1n itself.
your installation problem isn't a blackra1n prob dude..
blackra1n is used for jailbreaking..

yea well after using this stupi blackra1n my iphone 3gs wont turn on at all! like straight up black screen. im sitting here with a usless iphone 3gs white 16gb! :faint::killer:

I use BLackra1n and it did the job in 30 second. My ifunbox, PDA and rest of cydia work fine.

Also, you can use blackra1n to jailbreak your phone then restore using a custom firmware made with pwnagetool. (You can find them here http://xsellize.com/...ead.php?t=67519)

Pwnagetool's custom firmwares are 'supposed' to be 'more stable' than just a blackra1n jailbreak. I did not have any issues on both of my 3GS 3.1 OTB phones with just blackra1n, but I went ahead and loaded a custom firmware onto them anyway since it is 'supposed' to be 'more stable'..
