I found this on: Getard.org

Hey guys, this video will show you how to install deb files by using iFile (cydia) method. This is another alternative way to the AutoInstall method and the Mobile Terminal method.

iFile Method:

1) If you don't have iFile already, search it in xsellize and you'll find a deb file and once found install it.

2) Next SSH into your device and copy your deb file(s) to
/var/mobile/library/Downloads

3) Once you have copied your deb files into the
/var/mobile/library/Downloads folder, open up iFile and navigate to that directory

4) Once you are in /var/mobile/library/Downloads in iFile, you will see your deb files listed. Click on the file, and then click on installer.

5) After it has installed, respring and enjoy!

Simplest way :

use iFile on your iPhone :

when you select a .deb file (which you ssh'ed or copied with diskaid to var/mobile)
it has an option to install it automatically :biggrin:

Hope this helps

Great guide bash0r. it is very helpful. The installed applications (debs) can be uninstalled from the springboard or should we follow another method? does this apply to all applications or some need to be uninstalled in another way? thanks!

You can uninstall the applications via Cydia.
If you want to install in manually follow these instructions:

1) Open a SSH connection to your iPhone
2) type: dpkg -l
3) Search for the package name of the app you want to uninstall
4) type: dpkg -P PACKAGE_NAME

I'd recommend the uninstallation via cydia ;)

The installation is finished a few seconds after you see "Setting up ...... "

FYI: It's not necessary to have a folder in 'root'. In fact the .deb can be located anywhere and dpkg will install/remove the app correctly from any folder. It is however, more convenient to have a user-defined folder because you can remember what it is and where you put it :):)

Quick question, if you are updating a cracked app, do you need to uninstall the old one from Cydia first before you install the newer version? Or can you just install over it

I've searched through the forums, and I haven't found a definitive guide for what I'm looking for. Okay, I'm downloading an app that comes in 8 different parts as .rar files. When they're finished downloading, how would I get them onto my iPhone?

If it doesn't take too long, download them again on your iPhone and just install with ifile. That's what I do if I cant find what I want on cydia. Just remember to reboot/residing when you've finished. What's the app???
It's not about getting what you want. It's about getting it free of charge and it being better than everybody else's.
