Ok, so here's the deal; I almost always forget that I have SSH on after my phone has died or I have to reboot it for one reason or another. Obviously, this drains my battery faster than I can afford. So, I was wondering if there were any way to put and image in the status bar to show that its on? I know that Insomnia does this, so if any one has Insomnia, you will know what i mean.
Thanks for any replys.

I do, but it would be a lot easier to see it in the status bar, or not see it in the status bar..

There is currently no way to add SSH to the status bar to see if it is on or off, but btw SSH does not drain battery when you are not using it, only when you are connected to your computer via SSH

Than it must be my imagination but it seems to drain a lot faster if its on compared to when its off.
Anyway, does anyone know how Insomnia does it?

I assumed that if SSH was on, the device would intermittently try to establish a connection, therefore taking some power. But it seems to be otherwise...

Well I see it as a "backgrounded" application, therefore consumes battery. I could very well be wrong.

SSH DOES DRAIN BATTERY :(
Insomnia is an iPhone native application that, when enabled, will prevent the iPhone from sleeping, thus overriding its default behaviour. This allows background applications to continue to run and WiFi to work long after the screen has been switched off.

From all that i've heard SSH doesn't drain the battery.
It doesnt because the device is inactive until something tries to connect to it.
So if the battery does drain its negligible.

Ok. Regardless of whether it drains battery or not.... does anyone know how to make a status bar icon? Or would the whole program have to be rewritten?
