So a few days ago i restored through itunes to 3.1.2, used blackra1n to jailbreak, and blacksn0w to fix tether.
now i randomly lose my signal completely, than a little while later it comes back. its not hardware problem as it was fine a few days ago before i restored, so i thought it was blacksn0w.
but i can't uninstall blacksn0w as its not in cydia, i do not need it, and would like to know if anyone has a fix other than restore again? or the cause so i can avoid it next time?
no service, yes i searched!

Have you tried to RESET the Network Settings?
yeah i tried that, tried replacing sim card, also tried to manually install blacksnow again through cydia then uninstall it. originally i installed it through the blackrain app.

It was a joke!!! Ive searched google on your problem and some are saying to update carrier to 5.6, some are saying that using "push Fix" was causing their problems for losing signals! if you have that installed try removing that and see if it works!
Some are saying the sim card wasnt updated to run 3G, so they called network provider to get new sim card.
some did a restore and setup as NEW phone instead of backup!
These are a few ideas from different post that i found by Google!

try turning 3g off for awhile and see if you have the same issue without using 3g and data roaming

Im having this same problem.
1 backed up everything in itunes.
2 backed up cydia with pkgbackup.
3 updated to 3.1.2
4 only jailbroke with blackrain did not unlock.
5 restored from itunes.
Now i loose 3g connection all the time.
PKGBACKUP restored and carried all packages over from cydia.I had installed MMS and Teathering settings v5.6 for AT&T from the sinful repo.
Im going to uninstall it and see if it helps.

I was running redsn0w and ultrasn0w for months and a few days ago was getting shit reception, phone would get stuck in no service and only reboot or airplane mode on/off would fix it. I thought screw it i will try full restore with upgrade to baseband and try blackra1n this time. Still same problem aftet setting up a new phone. I dont get it, im in australia. I can only imagine two things i did different, i accidentally dropped my phone but no damage was done externally, and i wiped it down with a wet tea towel after some crap was on it. Thats all i did but i didnt notice problems from a drop as it was weeks ago, and reception issues are only days ago... :(

exactly how I feel. I've tried blackra1n multiple times and even without unlock it has never been bugfree, wifi issues, dropped signal shit I never see with dev team jb. I am back to pwnage and the only thing im lacking is gpsphone support :)

3g 3.1.2 pwnage

same thing with edge, though it seems harder to get a signal with edge.
im thinking i'll have to restore again, ill try to use pwnage instead as i don't need unlock anyway.

I installed the original ATT_US.5.6.ipcc carrier settings file manuallly with itunes (shift-restore) overwriting the Sinful 5.6 that comes with blackrain."Reset settings".Didnt help..."Reset ALL settings" too....
It didnt help. The phone shows full signal strength and a 3g symbol but says "cannot connect" when i use safari. "cannot connect" anytime i try to access the internet through any app like weather channel or safari. Yet, i can send and receive text and picture messages with no problem over 3g.Wifi works perfectly too.
Apps just cant access the internet. The only way it works is if I toggle 3g off then on again either with the airplane mode switch or the 3g toggle in sbsettings.
There must be a fix for this.

All the software bashing is a big waste of time. It's not blackrain and it's not redsnow or any other product you may have used to jailbreak your device. It's not even caused by the fact that your device is jailbroken.
I have personally done a series of tests on my own with each of my devices. 2g, 3g, 3gs, my daughter's regular 3g lg phone and some others.
And NO IT"S NOT THE iPHONE's LACK OF PROPER 3G ANYTHING!!!
It's just has to deal with the signal strength from the towers and how many towers you are in between. I have asked AT&T for a grid map of Grand Junction Colorado which is where I am at 98% of the time. In my house I can have 3g all day, but there is a catch to it because there is a 2g tower that they have not updated to 3g to somehow overrites my 3g signal. Also your phone will decide which signal to take depending on which one is stronger'<---That part I got from an at&t rep, not sure about that one. But from too many experiences, I'm really starting to believe it.
It also has to do with the fact of how little of a distance 3g coverage actually goes. If it's weak enough, your phone will ignore.
Experiment for yourself and use your phone without a jailbreak, and then with jailbreak.
I have tried doing that myself with my devices and some of my daughter's old and new 3g phones and where I work all day, the same thing happens where my 3g would come and go even if I'm in the same spot.

UPDATE:
I tryed rejailbreaking with blackrain....didnt help.
I did get safari to work again and all apps that use data seem to work again so far. Ill post here again if they stop working.
Heres waht i did:
-Im jailbroken with blackrain and restored from backup in itunes and all cydia packages with pkgbackup.
-click settings-general-reset
-click reset all settings at the top.
-Reboot.
-Open up Cydia and go to the Repositories section. Scroll down to the iPhone-Notes.de source and install it.
-Go to the "Tweaks 3.1.2" section. Install the appropriate tethering hack for your iPhone model (There is a 3G version and a 3G[S] version).
-Reboot
-open safari and go to http://m.peacefulins...er.mobileconfig
-touch on “Install” button on the upper right. Allow the IPCC file to install, which will take about 10 seconds. it will install the 6.0 carrier file.
-reboot
-Everything should work now.
Mine works great now.we will see if it stays that way.
Please hit thanks if it helped.

looks like ill have to try that, but like i said it was fine JB a week ago until i moved up to 3.1.2 JB and used blacksn0w and a bunch of other software, my bro has the same phone at 3.0 JB and where i have no service, he has full signal consistently. mine fluctuates between no service and some service and is overall weaker. so ill try like you said.
