Using the LangPack you just posted, can I remove all languages on iPhone 4S on 5.0.1 except for Japanese, English and French?

DudeOnFire,

No it will delete french as it is right now. if you know any script editing you could open it with notepad or another text editior and change it to include French.

So if your not good at editing you will have to use LangPack2.2.sh and individually chose which ones to delete.

Here is the link for LangPack2.2.sh that you could use. if you dont know what each language is you can just as easily google it and find out what language it is and whether you need it or not.

Langpack2.2.sh

hope this helps you out!

Hi jedi6185,

i've been trying to folow the steps you posted to remove the langpacks from my 4S but have failed.

I've uploaded the langpack_simple.sh to the root folder using iFile but cannot run it, since MobileTerminal crashes instantly on startup...

Can you, or someone, help me?

Thanks...

EDIT: Got it! Uploaded the file to /va/mobile with iFile, renamed it to "DELETE" also with iFile and, using PuTTy, ran the script! :D

The commands i had to enter AFTER LOGGING IN were:

cd /var/mobile

./DELETE

if your not able to load it from mobile terminal try using a program such as Putty which opens a SSH session with your phone while it is on your home networks wifi. just open a ssh session to the phones ip address via port 22 and login as normal. keep in mind that the default password alpine so while your in there you may want to change that by issuing the passwd command and changing it. if you keep having problems just let me know.

Just chiming in to say this method of removing useless data is great. I've noticed real speed gains and almost 100mb's of added available memory. Like a lot of others say, back your files up before tampering with langpacks manually. I didn't and got lucky because I knew the acronyms for the languages. Great find and info. Thanks for posting

Is it possible to modify this script to delete HiRes PNGs "picture@2x.png"? Will it work?

for file in `find . -type d -name "*@2x.png" -exec echo {} ; | sed -e 's/.///'`; do rm -vr ./$file ; done
