Global IP just announce a new service called GIPS VideoEngine that allows developers to implement the video chat or video conferencing function within their own iPhone applications. The service provides advanced techniques to handle jitter, packet loss, CPU and bandwidth constraints so it would be possible to video chat even on 3G not only on WiFi.

Of course, lets not forget that none of the iPhones present on the market today features a front camera, and unless a 3rd party external camera is used this service would be pretty much impossible to use. Lets hope that the next gen iPhone will be a “phenomenal, cool, amazing” device with a front camera.

if videochat ever came to the iphone it would nt make much difference to most of us ,as we would proberly not be able to use it unless we was on wifi.
The reason being is because i use my iphone on wifi for most of my downloads but this month i was away from home so i grabbed some stuff/streamed music etc and it came to nearly 2 gig in total
I got a letter off O2 threatening to disconect my bolt on.They said even, though wireless is free on my phone deal, there is a limit to how much one user is allowed to use and i had broken the fair usage policy by going over a set amount.

Now remember i use wifi when at home,so for the month of January my full USAGE RECIEVED was just short of 2 gigs. And they complaining about this and sent text message to my phone as well as sent a letter threatening disconnection though the post.

Wow that's totally stupid, are you paying for an unlimited plan? Because if AT&T did that over here in the States, I would be flipping out at corporate head quarters, that is really unfair, but I suppose it all depends on your policy, I figured they would just take the opportunity though to charge it to your phone bill, not threatening to disconnect you.

Haha oooooh no you're not. Come to Australia. We've got a government so backward we're practically living in the 50s. Plus they want to put us amongst the likes of China and Iran by censoring our internet. Oh and in regards to mobiles, we don't get ANY unlimited data plans. Instead we get about 1-2gb per month and have to pay about $80-100 for the priviledge (that cost includes the phone, calls and SMSes mind you).

its crazy as unlimited aint unlimited but yet they sell it as that.

Its going to get very expensive and in all fairness its very rare i even use 3g or edge as im always at places that have wifi such as work and home etc.
Will i get a discount for not going over my limit on certain months - will i hecks
Also why wont they say what the limits on unlimited really are ?
