Has anyone heard if this has been done? I think cablecards work like cable modems. If you can spoof the serial/mac you could probably share servce - like with xm, etc..

You would be able to spoof tha MAC.
I did that before, on a campingsite with my computer so I got free WIFI.
Yes I know thats wireless, but it would be able to do such things as well with cable.
You should google 'Spoof MAC' and you'll get it :)

For digitial cable TV, it usually depends on what company and STB/firmware you use.

I use a funcard on my Virgin Media STB (UK) aswell as a small hardware modification (to disable the talk back) to get around using the original card that is usually locked by STB location and hardware serial. At the moment it uses nagravision 2 and I have the channel decryption keys for that, but it is going to be using nagravision 3 soon which will put a spanner in the works for getting it free, because it is mean't to be alot harder to crack.

As you can see, it is abit more than just cloning MAC addresses like you can do for their cable modems.
