I'm wondering if it's conflicting w/ one of the SMS apps I have on my device.

Does anyone have iRealSMS or MySMS installed w/ MCleaner and having the SMS issue I described?

sms privacy works just fine

You need to uninstall Mcleaner, removes its traces. Then disable the status bar notification icons for IrealSMS. Reinstall Mcleaner again it should work.

You can test with backward date and time. :(
