The title says it all: are there PROVEN instructions to jailbreak iPhone 3G with broken power button on Windows (throwing it against the wall in a hope that the button will start working is not really an option)? Currently it is "jailbreaked" and unlocked with iOS 3.0 and I would like to upgrade it to 4.0 and unlock.
Any help is greatly appreciated

I actually just typed out a long explination then realized you can only get your device into Restore not DFU so the short answedr is no

EDIT: As i hit send i realized there are a few ways you can do this. Sorry my computer crased when I was going to direct you to:

Or there is a program that does it as well just search google and you will find it.

1.) First download the required archive Here

2.) Extract the archive to the root of your hard drive, should be C:/DFU/

3.) Connect your iPhone and ignore iTunes

4.) Goto Start - run

5.) Next type in “c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu”

6.) Wait for iPhone to show a “white” screen.So you are in DFU mode...

Thanks a lot! I'll try that. The plan will be:
1. Install 4.0
2. Put iPhone into DFU using above instructions.
3. Run redsn0w 0.9.5b5-4
4. Unlock
Hope it will do the trick...

i also have a broken power button. all i did is restore to a custom firmware

Did you use PwnageTool 4.01 with custom firmware from [url="http://xsellize.com/...wnload-links/"] or itunes and custom firmware?
