3G Network Booster
Description
Big News! There's a way to MAX your 3G network speed!
Speed up your app/game downloading and net browsing!
Don't get pissed with your carrier, "3G Booster" is your rescuer. It helps accelerate the speed of your internet connection and makes the use of the network MUCH FASTER!
Have you heard of MTU before? MTU stands for Maximum Transmission Unit. This governs the amount of data sent in each single burst to the network. If the MTU of your network is too small, your net connection will be slow. Even worse, certain network communications will fail. Optimizing your Internet connection can sometimes require you to increase the setting of MTU value.
"3G Booster" raises the MTU value on your iPhone/ iPod touch and makes your network using a much more pleasing experience. Faster network speed means LESS waiting time, INCREASED work efficiency and MORE battery juice saved! You can also check the battery status, CPU, wi-fi connection and cell IP address on your iPhone and iPod touch. You'll be stunned!
Hold the round button on the panel for 5 seconds to increase MTU value. Then reboot your iPhone/ iPod touch for the change to apply.
IMPORTANT NOTE;
Make sure you reboot your iPhone/ iPod touch for the change to apply.
If you don't think the setting is satisfying, you can always reset it. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.

Does it work? Or is it just like Volume Amplifier by Minoru Studio?

It gave me a 300kb boost in download speed from the speediest.net test. Nothing to get to excited over.
edit: after I tried some downloads and browsing, loading speeds are better, seems to work.

I had that happened once. Luckily I had an extra simcard laying around. They told me my card was too old, but the card looked fine to me. Oh well. It was a long time ago.

Somehow i don't believe that an appstore app would be able to do something like this, however the limited feedback would say otherwise.
Hopefully someone does an in depth analysis of it because i'd really like to see if this actually does anything!
I'd do it myself but sadly my network speeds fluctuate greatly so i wouldn't make the best tester

This does work. Is it possible to increase the MTU value even further?

I've been using it for a couple of days and it seems to have increased the speed at which webpages load both in 3G and wifi.
I also downloaded 2 large video files (240 and 492 MB) and it took less time than I had previouly expected.
The only odd thing that happened after installing this app was that after the last update, Fring now crashes to springboard, but I'm not sure if it's related...

You guys can change your MTU to whatever value you want.
from terminal or SSH
ifconfig pdp_ip0 mtu <MTUsize>
the default on iphone is 1450 for 3G and 1500 for wifi, check from how much that app raises it by just entering
ifconfig
which will show you your IP and MTU.

My MTU by default is 1024
Also there are pt0, pt1, pt2 and pt3 and the last one I guess is wifi.
Is it ok to change the rest to 1450.
Ok changed all mine to 1450 from 1024 but after a reboot there all back to 1024 lol so bugger knows.

Yes it will go back to defaults on reboot, but you dont have to reboot.. I think the only way to change it permanently is if you have a static IP.
