i guess i have found the possible problem and fix .

1. Download file "mobilewatchdog" (find it attached)

2. On your iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 using ssh or iphone explorer browse to
/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/mobilewatchdog.bundle/

and replace it with "mobilewatchdog" from 3.1.2

3. Reboot

4. Make sure perms are 755
Note:- before my phone used to reboot on call by max 10 mins. after replacing "mobilewatchdog" i have made calls upto 45 mins and the phone dos not reboot.

i am attaching the log file too.

PS:- Please do report back if it works for you. Works 4.3.3 too tested.

Deepsiphone,
This sounds very promising, but also very difficult for somebody like me.
I would be tremendously grateful if you would be willing to provide a step-by-step explanation. What should I do, where should I start, etc?

@deepsiphone,
Sorry for my ignorance about unneccessary quotes. Also sorry for bothering you again with questions,
Ik can't find the directory that you mentioned. Do I need to jailbreak my 3GS 32 Iphone first? If yes, how do I go about it? If no, how can I find this directory?
Thank you very much for your patience.

@keeskeeskees

download "iPhone Explorer" from

Quote

works on both win / mac. No you dont have to jailbreak your phone. Connect your phone launch iPhone Explorer you should see your phone connected in there. Expand your phone expand Root and browse through the path i have mentioned above. download the file and replace it with the original one. reboot

if your phone is still rebooting download "iPhone Configuration Utility" from apple's site and plug in the phone under DEVICES click on your phone and then click on Console make a call wait for it to reboot and pm me the log. I will try and fix it

Ok to access real root you need to be jail-broken. is your phone factory unlocked, do u depend on an unlock or are you with an official carrier. next you need to know if your phone is the new model or not go to settings>general>about look at the serial number it begins with 889XX the XX will be you week number if its below 40 you are good to go if your XX is between 41 and 45 you might have mixed results and if its above 45 then you have a tethered jailbreak (ie you will have to connect your phone to the pc/mac everytime you boot/reboot your phone). my iphone is week 41 and i have a untethered jailbreak. now depending on weather you want to jailbreak or not head over to

read all instructions clearly. you can find tutorials on

if you dont depend on an unlock you call follow this tutorial

Thank you! I will send you a PM. However, before I do that, I want to declare publicly that I will NOT hold you responsible! I would not dream about doing that, I appreciate your help very much, and I am fully aware of the fact that there are risks. I can cope with that risk.
Thanks again, you will hear from me.

Hello,

Will this work out with a phone unlocked with Ultrasn0w, Ipad 3.2 baseband?
Edit: it's installed and rebooted fine and network is ok, now see if the problem is resolved :-)

Thanks for the solution, this was driving me mad and Apple have been no help with this.

After replacing my mobilewatchdog file with the 3.1.2 version,I have just made my first phone call that lasted longer than 5 minutes.

Thanks

Well i have just tried this on a friends 16gb MC 3GS. So far so good not a single reboot. not good when your phone reboots at work when you're using a tethered jailbreak. lol. Thanks again

Hello mate. I have done what is described in the first post and it solved my problem - I can make phone calls longer then 4 minutes. However, new problem is the phone resets itself every 10-11 minutes now, regardless of what I'm doing. Looking at other forums http://www.twiphone....out-ssh-access/ for example, they seem to imply you need to replace the mobilewatchdog.bundle or else it will go into that cycle of resetting. Can you clarify? Thanks.

Thank you very much. This fix seems to have fixed my issue with my iphone 3Gs 16Gb which is running iOS 4.3.2 now jailbroken that was always crashing during a call ever since I installed the updat to iOS 4...
Cannot believe I had to jailbreak my phone to fix an issue that Apple is not admitting it has with its software and saying it is a hardware issue lol. Made my first call of more than 5 minutes for the first time in a couple of months.
